Oven Baked Fries

Crisp and perfect!

Crisp and perfect!

French Fries…it is such a stereotype to think that all French people love French Fries…but I have to say my Frenchie fills that stereotype to a ‘T’.  She is crazy about fries and it is a big craving food for her.  How wonderful to have a healthy version of the French Fries to fill that desire.

Oven Baked Fries

5 medium red potatoes
3 T olive oil
1 t salt and pepper (to taste)

Preheat oven to 400 F

Everyone has different preferences on how thick or thin their fries are, so cut the as you like them, but try to keep them a similar thickness so that they cook at the same rate.

In a bowl place the cut potatoes and add salt and pepper.  Toss the potatoes so that the seasonings distribute evenly.  Next add the olive oil and toss again to coat the potatoes.

Pour the potatoes onto a baking sheet.  Shake the pan horizontally with the potatoes on it so that they olive oil spreads around the pan, then make sure that all of the potatoes have their own place on the pan (nothing overlapping).  Depending on the size of your pan you might need to use more than one baking sheet.

Cook the potatoes in the oven for 20 minutes.  At this time flip the fries so that the other side cooks too.  You will need a thin metal spatula to gently loosen the fries off the pan and flip them.

Cook for another 5-10 minutes until golden brown.  Remove from the oven, let cool slightly and then devour!
